Barrier-free guidance and orientation system
The signage of the TU Dresden has a uniform design from the outside to the inside, which blends in with the architecture aesthetically and in accordance with the CI. The barrier-free guidance and orientation system uses overviews, lift panels, signposts, information signs and door signs that can be used inclusively and intuitively. The clear, bilingual information design is visually and tactilely readable according to the 2-senses principle, reduced to the essentials and has a high recognition value. Barrier-free accessibility with appropriate reading heights is guaranteed. The barrier-free signage system was developed by studio kw. kommunikationsdesign from Frankfurt. The system had to be highly flexible, as it has to function in almost 200 existing buildings of different types. It was realised by meng with the quintessenz signage system.
The signage for rooms with fixed designations such as teaching rooms, function rooms etc. was permanently labelled. Changing information carriers for offices of institutions, professorships and administrative units were realised within the overview boards in the foyer as changeable modules. Likewise, the door signs can be quickly updated with flexibly exchangeable paper inserts.
